Flo Hamlin's passion for painting and extraordinary drawing skills were evident at an early age, and soon recognized nationally, when she won the prestigious American Legion Poppy poster contest in Junior High School. Numerous artistic classes in Northern California high schools and colleges helped to further advance her esthetic skills, highlighted with a year at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.

Over the years her craft has been continually influenced by a number of prominent teachers as well as a willingness to develop versatility in technique and style. While she has excelled in oils, barnwood paintings, Chinese brush paintings, even stained glass, it has ultimately been the medium of watercolors that has captured Flo's heart and now the vast majority of her artistic expression as well: "I like versatility..." Flo explains.... "I love the rich and exciting colors and washes that can be obtained through watercolor painting."

Her works have been appreciated by numerous collectors who delight in her exquisite style, vibrant hues, and unique magical realism.

A member of the Santa Cruz Watercolor society, Flo is also amongst a select group of prominent artists recognized in the Northern California Watercolor Exhibit. She currently has showings in the Los Angeles area, as well as an ongoing exhibit at the Art and Wine Gardens in Boulder Creek, California.
